For Primary Level

Mathematics at the primary level in South Sudan focuses on building foundational skills that students will use throughout their education. The curriculum includes:

  1. Number and Operations: Students learn to count, recognize numbers, and understand basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  2. Geometry: Introduction to basic shapes, their properties, and spatial awareness. Students learn to recognize and draw shapes like squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles.

  3. Measurement: Learning how to measure length, weight, and time using appropriate units like meters, kilograms, and hours.

  4. Data and Graphs: Basic concepts of collecting data and representing it through simple bar charts, pictographs, and tables.

  5. Patterns and Problem Solving: Encouraging students to recognize patterns in numbers and solve simple word problems that apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations.

The goal at this level is to develop numerical fluency, logical thinking, and a positive attitude toward mathematics.
